Online Fan Vote now open to determine final four All-Stars

January 4, 2022 (Brooklyn, N.Y.) – The Premier Hockey Federation today announced a list of 30 players selected to compete in the 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase on Saturday, January 29 in Toronto. The group consists of three goaltenders, 12 defenders, and 15 forwards who are awarded the opportunity following a vote by PHF coaches and general managers representing all six member teams.

“Each of these players are standouts through the first half of the PHF season and most deserving of All-Star distinctions and the honor to compete on this stage,” said PHF Commissioner Tyler Tumminia. “It’s been a joy sharing this news with the athletes because everyone is so proud and humbled by the recognition, and also very excited to be part of this special event.”

The 30 selections are a blend of PHF veterans along with new and rising talents. 12 players have previously received All-Star accolades led by forward Madison Packer of the Metropolitan Riveters who will be making a record fifth All-Star appearance, plus Boston Pride defenders Amanda Boulier and Kaleigh Fratkin both named for a fourth time. 10 players are in the midst of their second full season including top scorer and reigning MVP Mikyla Grant-Mentis and December’s PHF Player of the Month in goaltender Elaine Chuli both from the first place Toronto Six. The other eight players are in their first season including Connecticut Whale forwards Kennedy Marchment and Taylor Girard who are the Federation’s two top scoring newcomers.

Boston leads the way with eight players selected, Connecticut and Toronto have seven players apiece, the Buffalo Beauts are represented by four skaters, while the Riveters and Minnesota Whitecaps each have two players listed to round out the 30.

The three All-Star captains include Shiann Darkangelo (Toronto Six), Jillian Dempsey (Boston Pride), and Allie Thunstrom (Minnesota Whitecaps) who were selected by PHF players and announced ahead of the team vote.

The team vote for All-Star selections was facilitated in two phases by the PHF office. All six clubs were asked to nominate nine players from their organization for All-Star consideration including one goaltender and eight skaters with no less than three defenders among them. The nominees formed a final ballot of 54 players. All six teams then submitted votes by ranking their top three goaltenders, top 12 defenders, and top 15 forwards based on the list of finalists and were not permitted to choose their own nominees. The 30 All-Stars are those who received the most votes in the selection process. The rankings were used to break ties for the final spots at any position if necessary.

2022 PHF ALL-STAR FAN VOTE

There are still four spots to be awarded for the 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase and the athletes who earn those selections will be determined by the fans.

An online voting platform is now open providing fans the opportunity to nominate three skaters and one goaltender to complete the pool of players who will comprise the three All-Star rosters.
